Socks that look like shoes
On to lighter topics and a post that will not contain run-on sentences about my general whiny-ness.

Reese is now 10 weeks old and at her 2 month check-up last week she weighed a whopping 12.6 lbs! She is smiling like crazy and making those adorable coo-ing noises as well as the occasional squeal. The best is the surprised look on her face after a particularly loud squeal that says “wow, did that noise come from me?”.
We have gotten the hang of the whole sleeping thing and Reese falls asleep in her crib the majority of the time. I think that conquering that problem has helped us in so many other areas. She sleeps better now even when we are out and about, and because she’s getting the sleep she needs, she eats better as well. Although, her feedings have changed drastically in recent weeks. The pediatrician says it’s most likely because she is picky and likes the milk to be coming fast, and when it slows down after the first 5 minutes or so she doesn’t want to work at getting any more from that side. So instead of feeding her on one side each feeding she now eats for about 5 minutes on each side. I was worried she wasn’t eating enough, but the pediatrician says her weight gain is perfect, so she must just be a very efficient eater. Excellent. Believe me, I’m counting my blessings for a baby that feeds this quickly in the middle of the night and then goes right back to sleep:)!
Life has basically taken on a pretty normal routine. Reese is definitely more aware of her surroundings now and when I put her down on her playmat she grabs at the toys that hang down, and she makes happy noises when she gets herself under them so they brush her face. She can hold up her head really well and when she’s in her carseat she holds her head up in what looks like a very uncomfortable position to me. It’s almost like now that she knows she can do it she wants to show off:), cuteness.
Yesterday I had to go through her drawer for the second time and clear out all of the clothes that already don’t fit. Some of which she wore only once or twice before outgrowing them. A word to the wise…Don’t trust the size labels on baby clothes! I had all the 3-6 month clothes in another drawer waiting for her to grow into them, and when I went through them yesterday I found more than a few articles of clothing that she has almost outgrown already without even wearing once. What a waste!
Finally, on the subject of clothes…I must tell everyone about the most recent article of clothing that Mark insists Reese wears every day. But there is a story behind it I must tell. Back when Mark and I were first married and he avoided talking about having kids at all costs, we once saw a baby girl at church that was wearing an adorable pair of socks that looked like little shoes. I pointed them out to Mark and said that when we had a baby girl she needed socks that looked like shoes to wear. Mark thought that was the funniest thing and has made fun ever since. The conversations would usually go something like this;
Me-”Honey, let’s have a baby”.
Mark-”Yeah we should, so we can buy her socks that look like shoes. I mean, we can’t have a baby until we find her socks that look like shoes. It would just be wrong”. *snickers*
So last year, I had just found out I was pregnant for the first time right before Mother’s Day. For Mother’s Day, Mark gave me a box that contained 5 tiny pairs of socks, in a variety of colors, that looked like tiny converse sneakers. For those of you who don’t know, I miscarried the next week. But we had Baby Reese almost exactly a year later. A couple of days ago Mark broke out the socks that look like shoes, and has insisted she wear a pair every day. Even if she doesn’t have anything that matches. I think it’s cute that he tries, even though the resulting outfits end up quite silly:). So here are the “socks that look like shoes” pictures. I’m sure they will be popping up in many pictures in the future!

LOVE the socks that look like shoes! They are SO cute, I want some!
Little Reesey is getting some chubber cheeks! I see that she still likes to be swaddled. It’s interesting that she still wants it, even at this age. Maybe that means she’ll want to be cuddled a lot.

Aaaaaagh! I love them. Rhi wouldn’t keep anything like this on, so I’ll just have to appreciate the cuteness on Reese.
