Reese turns one!
I have been thinking a lot about what I wanted to say in this post. Still, I am left with few words about my feelings over Reese turning one. I am a person who hates change, and so my little baby turning one year is a hard thing for me to feel excited about. It means that my baby is not really a baby so much anymore. It’s fun to watch her grow and change, but it doesn’t feel like I had her a whole year ago. It still feels surreal that I have a child. I have especially loved the last few months as her personality has blossomed and really started to shine through. I thought maybe I would share the things that I have learned about our Reesey-piece with everyone in celebration of a whole year with her in our life.

Birthday: May 22, 2007
Recent milestones: Crawling FAST, standing while holding onto things and walking while holding onto things, crawling up a whole flight of stairs (the day after her birthday), eating large finger foods, saying “hi”, waving, clapping, and “dancing” (aka bouncing up and down and shaking her head to music). She also recently cut 4 molars, so she rolled into her first birthday sporting 12 teeth! She also is FINALLY getting over her separation anxiety after 5 long months of screaming nearly every time I left a room. We’re not home free yet, but it’s gotten a lot better.
My favorite things about Reese: When I hold out my arms she crawls to me and curls up in my lab and lays her head on my knee or shoulder. She is recently obsessed with sticking her tongue out and loves to stick it out and wiggle it side to side at you. I just love her fuzzy head and nuzzling my face into it:) She has the best grin that lights up my day whenever I see it, which is pretty often.
We call her: Reesey-piece, munchkin, sweets, silly and Daddy Mark calls her “fatty”.
Ways that she is like me: She is stubborn, curious, and a impatient. She’s LOUD! She wants what she wants, when she wants it. She also loves to laugh and smile and play.
Ways that she is like Mark: She is silly, mischievous, and a sweetheart. She also has Mark’s eyes and his mellow nature. She likes to observe rather than jump right in. She likes to snuggle and she is very funny.
Here are some great photos our amazing FIL took of her birthday party. We had a low-key celebration with family and a few friends at a local park. Though it threatened to rain on us, we managed to party completely dry. A great time was had by all. Video soon to come!

We had so much fun! Congratulations again on making it a year – it’s a huge accomplishment!! :)
Meghan, this post almost made me tear up! When you talk about her fuzzy head nuzzled up to you and her sticking out her tongue! I can just see it and love it! Be seeing you soon.
Happy Birthday Reese! What a big girl!
She’s such a big girl! I know that’s not what you want to hear, but she’s growing up so beautifully. Happy Birthday Reese!
